A Premium Price for a Premium Experience
Fact: Antigua has 365 beaches, one for each day of the year. Another fact: Hammock Cove Antigua is one of the best and most luxurious resorts on the island.
If you want to celebrate a special occasion or just relax and enjoy some of the best food in the Caribbean, you can’t go wrong with this place. It is quiet, serene, has a great beach, all inclusive restaurants, and some of the best staff you will ever meet. Hammock Cove Antigua is part of Elite Island Resorts, and when you look up reviews and opinions online, you will quickly see that it is considered their most luxurious and impressive resort yet. It’s definitely not the most affordable resort around, but you are paying for a top tier experience that is hard to match.
What we like about Hammock Cove Antigua
Hammock Cove is gorgeous and one of the most secluded Elite Island Resorts you can find in Antigua. We are talking about a resort that opened barely five years ago and has gone through minor refurbishments since then to keep it looking like a five star resort. Let’s just say that Hammock Cove has done a great job keeping everything looking new and fresh, and a premier destination for those looking for a romantic moment.
It has just 41 villas, located on a private beach with beautiful views of the ocean. Rooms here are absolutely outstanding, by the way, and among the best you can find in any resort. They often come with double showers, huge king sized beds, a stocked minibar with premium liquor and fine wine, and every room has a private plunge pool. The only disadvantage is that the toilet is located inside the bathrooms next to the shower, but it’s a minor issue when everything else is top notch. The rooms are large and amazing, and even if you stay inside during your entire visit, you will surely have a great time.
The staff is also great and probably some of the best in Antigua. Your minibar is restocked daily, and you have access to a special concierge service that works much like a private butler. You get a telephone when you check in and can use it to ask for whatever you want. It’s not exactly a butler service, since Hammock Cove calls it the use of an “Ambassador”, but it works in a similar way. Want to secure a place by the pool at six in the morning? Your private concierge can do that. Want a special drink late at night? Just give that person a call.
The service is excellent, and we are not only talking about the concierge. Even if you head to the beach early in the morning, the staff will adjust the loungers for you, open the parasols, and bring you water right away, followed by any kind of drink you want. Waiters even walk into the water to bring you cocktails while you enjoy the warm sea. It’s that impressive.
There is also plenty to do while you are at the resort. There is a three tier infinity pool that is never crowded, and each level gives you a different view of the beach. You can also find a cigar lounge and a cognac club, which cost extra but offer premium cigars and some of the best drinks around. The beach is private and very nice as well. It is not the best beach in Antigua, but it is considered quite good and calm, with almost no waves. Even better, there is a boardwalk just above it, so you can go for a leisurely stroll after breakfast if you prefer walking instead of relaxing on a lounger all morning.
Dining is also excellent, and Hammock Cove Antigua offers only à la carte options, even for breakfast, with no buffets. This means that every meal is made to order, ensuring that each one feels extra special and prepared just for you. Restaurants include a premium steakhouse, an open air bistro that serves caviar, and the Lighthouse Restaurant, a chic Michelin caliber spot offering elegant Caribbean dishes. All of them are included in your base rate, and all of them are fantastic.
As far as activities go, they are about what you would expect from a Caribbean resort. There are paid activities available, but you can also enjoy complimentary options that range from pickleball courts to kayaking and snorkeling. You can even choose to have dinner under the resort’s pink gazebo, which has become a classic landmark there.
What we don’t like about Hammock Cove Antigua
The only thing that is a con about this resort is that prices tend to be very premium. A room for two guests in Hammock Cove usually starts at $1,300 per night, and it’s not uncommon for it to reach $1,800 during the peak season. Sure, the resort is amazing and gets everything right, but it’s also a very expensive experience that isn’t for everyone.
Final Thought on Hammock Cove Antigua
You are paying a premium for one of the best experiences in the Caribbean. Hammock Cove Antigua is not cheap, but it offers an incredible staff, luxurious rooms, and some of the best food you can find at an all-inclusive resort. If money is not an issue, book your next stay here as soon as possible!
