The highly anticipated Beaches Resort is almost here.
Beaches Exuma is opening in late 2026 or early 2027 in Great Exuma, Bahamas, transforming the former adults-only Sandals Emerald Bay into the fourth ever Beaches Resort (and the first one on the beautiful Exuma Island). While details are still limited, this new resort will join Beaches Negril and Beaches Turks and Caicos, offering families a brand-new all-inclusive destination just a 1 hour and 15-minute flight from Miami. You will get a waterpark, plenty of free food, drinks and, of course, Elmo.
We do know that Beaches Exuma is just 15 minutes from Exuma International Airport (GGT) and that complimentary transportation from the airport to the resort will be provided. That's definitely great news for families that want to kickstart their vacation right after the plane lands as well as adults who want to relax with a Piña Colada while their children join the Kids Club.
We also know that the beach at Beaches Exuma stretches about one mile long with white sand beautiful crystal-clear water that gave the area its original name, Emerald Bay. Yes, the water looks just like what you see on Instagram posts... without the excessive amount of filter. Hammocks and umbrellas dot the shoreline and finding a spot to relax isn't an issue. If we had to rate this resort based on the beach alone, we could safely say that Beaches Exuma is already a success.
Beaches Exuma will likely follow the standard room structure seen at other Beaches and Sandals resorts: there will be Luxury rooms, Club Level rooms and Butler Suites. New surprises could include swim-up pool suites and rooms with infinity pools on the balcony, similar to some of the new Sandals in Curaçao and Barbados. Top-tier suites might even offer special perks like a complimentary Mini-Cooper rental to let guests explore the island, though we are only speculating for now.
The resort is expected to feature around 13 complimentary restaurants and bars, matching what was available at Sandals Emerald Bay. We hope to find restaurants like Gatsu Gatsu for Sushi, Zuka, and a maybe new version of Butch's Island Chop House. These newer restaurant concepts have been rolling out at Sandals 2.0 resorts across the Caribbean and could very well make their way to Beaches Exuma.
One major highlight is the 18-hole golf course designed by Greg Norman, located about 1.1 miles from the resort with complimentary transportation offered. This golf course was a top attraction at Sandals Emerald Bay and will continue drawing golf fans to Beaches Exuma. If you love golf and a great beach, then there is a good chance that Beaches Exuma will be your new favorite family resort.
As you may know, the biggest change from Sandals to Beaches is the shift from adults-only to family-friendly. There's a huge chance that we will see a new Pirates Island Waterpark, multiple splash zones for kids and Sesame Street characters running around.
Since Beaches Exuma hasn't officially opened yet, many details remain unknown, but the resort should welcome its first guests sometime in late 2026 or early 2027. And guess what? We are here to bring you all the news from Beaches Exuma and help you set up your next family vacation.
