Dunn’s River might be a little more expensive than other Sandals properties in the Caribbean, but it has a ton of cool features that make it amazing. Dunn’s River even made our list of the top five best Sandals Resorts in 2025, and it will only get better with time.

First of all, Sandals Dunn’s River launched in 2023, which already makes it special, since everything looks brand new. This is also what many call Sandals 2.0, a new take on the classic format that brings new restaurants, a more modern layout and new room categories to the brand. Dunn’s River is located in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, and offers 12 restaurants located close to each other, with several pathways that prevent the resort from ever feeling crowded.

Dining variety is a strong selling point here, by the way. Most of the 12 restaurants are exclusive to this location and feature brand new concepts you will not find at other Sandals resorts. Hanami offers sushi, Cascata serves Italian cuisine and Edessa features Greek dishes. All of that is included alongside Sandals favorites like The Jerk Shack. The food quality is a step above other resorts, and since Sandals is all inclusive, every restaurant and all drinks are already included in your base price.

The resort layout is also top notch. The main swimming pools sit right in front of the beach, with buildings and rooms surrounded by private swim up pools, all connected by gardens and walkways. The beach is good with white sand, though it can get windy and sometimes feels a bit rocky. Free activities include scuba diving, kayaking, snorkeling and paddle boarding, basically everything you expect from a beautiful all inclusive Jamaican resort.

Dunn’s River features brand new room types, including Rondoval suites with private swimming pools and rooms with sky terrace pools. Dunn’s River is one of the first Sandals Resorts to offer such a wide variety of suites with pools, a design that is slowly spreading to other resorts across the Caribbean. Rooms here are new and rank among the best that the brand has to offer.

Fans of golf will love the complimentary green fees and round trip transfers to Upton Estate Golf and Country Club, just 15 minutes away. The course earned four stars from Golf Digest and reviews say it is great for golfers of all skill levels. You will need to rent clubs and pay for caddies and carts separately, though.

The main drawback is getting there, since the resort is about 90 minutes to 2 hours from Montego Bay airport, though free transfers are included. Once you arrive at the resort, you are minutes from Dunn’s River Falls, where you can zipline, picnic or enjoy a romantic time by the lake. Dunn’s River Falls is an amazing place to visit in Jamaica and being so close to Sandals is a huge perk.
