St George's, Grenada
For those that want to get the party started as soon as they land.
Sandals Grenada is famous for two things: being just five minutes from the airport, literally across the street, and delivering an incredibly romantic atmosphere. This all inclusive, adults only resort launched in 2014, creating a compact, easy to navigate layout where everything stays close without feeling cramped.
This is a resort for those that do not want to spend a whole lot of time traveling or moving around. Seriously, you land at Maurice Bishop International Airport and in just a few minutes you are inside your room. I already hear you asking, “so, that means a ton of plane noise, right?” and… not really. Flights to Grenada are not that frequent, so it is not like you hear airplanes every ten minutes.
The resort is beautiful with flowers and plants everywhere, creating a romantic atmosphere that couples love. Most rooms feature tranquility soaking tubs, and that is true even for entry level rooms. The compact layout forms a protective shield around pools, restaurants and activities, with everything connected by easy pathways. Moving around is very easy. Some Butler Suites sit on a small hill requiring a bit more walking, but most rooms are flat and easy to reach.
The staff here consistently earns praise across Reddit and TripAdvisor, from gardeners greeting you with genuine smiles to butlers who wake up at 4am to secure a chair by the pool for you. This friendly, helpful mentality rivals the best Sandals properties including Jamaica's Royal Plantation.
Sandals Grenada offers 11 complimentary restaurants featuring Sandals favorites like Soy Sushi Bar, Butch's Chophouse, Kimonos and Neptune's. The food is pretty good, rating around 7 out of 10, which means that it is good but not spectacular. There are two different pools. The South Seas Pool with swim up bar and DJ creates the party atmosphere, while the Pink Gin Village Pool offers a quiet setting.
The beach is Sandals Grenada's weak spot. Pink Gin Beach is relatively small with plain sand, a few rocks and not a whole lot of swimming area due to the rough waters outside the main cove. If pristine beaches top your priority list, consider Sandals Grande St. Lucian instead. The good news is that this beach is private for Sandals guests, so you will not find vendors approaching you every ten minutes trying to sell you a jet ski ride.
Sandals Grenada is a great choice for couples that do not want to spend a lot of time flying or riding inside a bus and want a compact and romantic resort. This is a Sandals with excellent staff that, even with average dining options, is still a very good option for a vacation with the love of your life. There is not much better than authentic Grenadian charm.
