Sandals Ochi Resort

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

A unique Sandals with tons of cool features for you to check out.

Sandals Ochi does a lot of things right and has some special features and perks that are completely unique to this destination. First, and perhaps most important, it is the most affordable Sandals in Jamaica. If our wallet loves Ochi, then so do we. Second, it is the largest Sandals in Jamaica, divided into two parts and with several different restaurants and bars that you will not see anywhere else. If you have never been to Sandals and want to try it for the first time, we can certainly recommend Sandals Ochi for all the special little details it has to offer.

It is not just Famvia that recommends Ochi, by the way. As one of the most popular Sandals Resorts in the world, it has collected over 20,000 TripAdvisor reviews and still maintains an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars, which is rather impressive. Guests that come to Ochi usually return a second time and take the opportunity to rent a car and explore all sides of Jamaica.

Ochi’s defining characteristic is its unique split configuration into two distinct areas: beachside and hillside. It almost feels like two resorts in one! Each area has its own restaurants and bars, but keep in mind that a public road separates the two areas. The good news? There is a complimentary minivan that runs every ten minutes and connects both areas until 2am, so you do not have an excuse to not check every little corner in Ochi.

Sandals Ochi also has a ton of stuff to offer. The resort features approximately 110 pools, with most being private pools attached to Butler Elite rooms and the top tier accommodations. There are also 16 complimentary restaurants ranging from a fancy French dining venue all the way to the popular Soy Sushi Bar. The coolest aspect is actually not even the number of restaurants, but The Rabbit Hole speakeasy bar, which you can only access with a secret password. That is an awesome bar inspired by the 1920s with jazz bands playing, and it makes you feel like you have been transported to a James Bond movie set.

Even golf fans have a good reason to celebrate Sandals Ochi. The resort provides complimentary green fees and round-trip transportation to Upton Estate Golf & Country Club, located just 15 minutes away and awarded four stars by Golf Digest, though club rentals, caddies and golf carts cost extra.

The local beach does get mixed reviews. While the water quality is a 10 out of 10, the beach itself is relatively small and divided into three sections by buildings and walkways. Another small issue is the 90 minutes/2 hour transfer from Sangster International Airport. If you are arriving in Jamaica, you want to get the party started as soon as possible, but you have to wait just a little bit for Sandals Ochi. It is worth it in the end, we promise.

Sandals Ochi is still awesome and an easy recommendation if you want to spend time in Jamaica. It is a big resort with a ton of stuff to do and see, plenty of dining options and it does not cost thousands of dollars. Have fun and make sure to share the Speakeasy password with us later.
