Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort

Nassau, Bahamas

With good weather, this easily stands out as one of the best Sandals Resorts in the world.

Sandals Royal Bahamian stands apart as the first Sandals resort in the Bahamas and the only Sandals property featuring a true private island. This fun perk contributes to a very interesting detail: weather conditions dramatically impact the overall experience here more than at any other Sandals resort.

Is it sunny and the perfect time to get a tan? Then Royal Bahamian is easily a 10 out of 10, giving you the chance to explore a quiet and beautiful private island located just moments away. Do you see grey clouds in the distance and the atmosphere looks like the movie set from Twister? Then uh… well, yeah.

The private island, Barefoot Cay, is Royal Bahamian’s signature attraction but closes if it is raining or during a storm, making travel timing absolutely critical for guests. If it is sunny, though, then you are going to love it here. Barefoot Cay is located half a mile from the main Sandals buildings and offers all day ferry service connecting the two areas. This private island has two beaches, a swimming pool and a romantic restaurant that couples should go to at least once. The private island is much more than buildings, by the way. It gives you a new place to relax surrounded by nature, great snorkeling spots and much more.

So, Barefoot Cay? It is awesome.

What were we talking about? Oh yeah, Sandals Royal Bahamian. The main resort is also very good, especially after a 55-million-dollar renovation in 2022. New restaurants and room options were introduced, giving the whole resort a more modern touch. Some Elite Butler Suites even include complimentary Mini Cooper rentals and a Rolls Royce airport transfer, making you feel like British royalty when travelling the Caribbean.

Royal Bahamian is also located just 15 minutes away from Lynden Pindling International Airport. That is very short indeed. The bad news? Well, you may only get 15 minutes inside a Rolls Royce, but at least you get to see how the inside of a Rolls Royce feels. A flight from Miami also only takes one hour to get to the Bahamas so, in theory, you could wake up at 8am in Florida and still be able to enjoy a Pina Colada by noon in Royal Bahamian.

The compact main resort features three pools, including a party pool with continuous music. Ten restaurants are available, with some great options including Italian restaurant Tesoro and the beloved classic Soy Sushi Bar.

As you can see, Sandals Royal Bahamian is very unique. The best time to come and skip the rainy season is from November to April. May through November is not usually recommended, especially the hurricane season that goes from June through November. Remember, you want to maximize that private island the best you can.

If you do get to come here and it is sunny, then you are almost certainly going to have a great time. Sandals Royal Bahamian is close to the airport, has a lot of modern rooms and a private island. It is unique, it is romantic and it is awesome. Just make sure to pray to your weather god to keep the rain away.
