Virgin Voyages might be the best cruise line you’ve never cruised. This is the name that someone like Jimi Hendrix would choose to explore the world. Virgin Voyages is like a rock band in cruise format, with four similar ships that decided to give the world of cruising a whole new meaning. They are adults-only, they offer some great parties and even feature suites with guitars where you can invoke your inner Van Halen at night.

For guests aged between 30 and 50 years old, this is an excellent cruise line. Virgin has a lot of fun parties, including Scarlet Night and Pajama Night. Their events tend to be less chaotic than what you’d find onboard Carnival Cruise Line, so they’re an excellent choice for those that want to socialize and have a drink.

Virgin isn’t just unique because they’re adults-only and made by rock stars, no. There’s also no dress code onboard and no main dining hall. Instead, you can visit any of their free restaurants at night wearing whatever you feel comfortable in, though most guests choose to dress sharp for the evening. The food is also great, with many passengers saying Virgin has some of the best dining across all mainstream and premium lines. Almost every restaurant is included in your fare, with menus developed by Michelin-starred chefs. So, you not only get a fun, mature atmosphere but also great food. Cruising doesn’t get much better than this.

It's a better time than ever to sail with Virgin since they released their new ship, Brilliant Lady, in 2025. Brilliant Lady sails from Miami, Los Angeles and Vancouver, bringing Virgin to some of the most popular ports in the world. Before this ship, they had a modest presence in North America, but now? Now there’s no excuse to rock on onboard.

Your base fare also includes a lot of good perks that are often missing in mainstream cruise lines. You get things like basic Wi-Fi and sodas, for example. This might not sound like a lot at first, but being able to send messages and check social media while sipping a Diet Coke makes a whole world of difference. Virgin also introduces some fun features, like what they call Shake for Champagne. You just need to shake your phone three times and, voila, a bottle of champagne comes your way.

The atmosphere onboard is what you’d expect from an elegant nightclub where everyone is friendly. It’s peaceful, but with lots of energy as well. They not only have parties and special events from time to time, but also DJs playing until late in the night at The Manor nightclub. What you won’t find onboard are waterslides, big Broadway shows or waterparks.

All in all, Virgin Voyages is amazing, and we’d even call it an underrated cruise line. It’s an excellent recommendation for adults that want a fun cruise that isn’t overly expensive but still offers plenty to do and has some good food and nice events onboard.
